Yesterday was the BA-Moto 3rd anniversary ride. I attended with a few friends and shot throughout the day.

The ride, hang, beer, and people were great. I’m glad I was able to make it out.

The 2011 Switchfoot Bro-Am was in full effect yesterday. Moonlight beach in Encinitas held the afternoon concerts including; The Howls, The Silent Comedy, and Switchfoot. I saw some old friends and took pictures at the main stage and the after-party at the Belly Up in Solana Beach. The after-party featured concert appearances by Little Hurricane, Fiction Family, and John Rzeznik.

It was a fun day.

It’s been said ‘Alaska is – what America was’. The scenery, people, food, and wildlife has a sort of unchanged and authentic way about it. I arrived almost a week ago, so it’s about time to show some of the work so-far.

This has been my best trip up here with regard to adventuring and spending time with friends. I’ve also been lucky enough to find some great photos waiting in front of my lens.

Along with the current adventures, this time has been an opportunity to plan bigger escapades for the next trip here. I’ve been spending more time with some local friends and guides who helped Michio Hoshino. It’s exciting to hear their stories and learn about the photographer I’ve admired for many years.

Capturing motion or frames that typically go unnoticed has always been fascinating to me. As a child, Edgerton was one of my first heroes and a big creative influence. I have some early efforts on film that are pretty hilarious.

I’d like to start doing more large scale stroboscopic and high speed images, so morning coffee time was spent looking at some of the previous photos. There are some fun ones, ones I want to re-do, ones I want to abandon, and a couple to post…

This past weekend was spent riding 800 miles with some swell friends. The journey took us out to Box Canyon, Joshua Tree, Parker AZ, Palm Springs, and some beautiful stops in between.

a good amount of the past year has been spent rehabilitating a triumph t140. A constant battle of fixing problems and finding new ones.

3 top end rebuilds, 2 pairs of carbs, a new head, harness, and tons of hours machining later; I can stop focusing on the mechanical issues and just paint a little.
